Newly manufactured Bunny Bots await their ascent into space. Their main objective; to obtain all carrots within the galaxy and use them as fuel/life for the rest of the Bunny Bot army! Soon, these bunny bots will multiply a million times over, invading planets and living among their peoples. No one would be able to resist their cuteness! All hail the Bunny Bots!
Bunny Bot was created back in February during SatelliteSoda’s annual Daily Draw. I wanted to do more with it, give it an origin. This may even grow into something more bunny-rific.

This is Francesa. Say hello….
This is my current color palette on Paint Tool SAI; grayscale, skin tones and the colors I use for sketching and the shadows/lighting.
The shadows/lighting colors are usually set on an overlay or multiply layer, set anywhere between a 30% and 80% opacity, depending on what sort of lighting I want to achieve.
From Sketch to Colors :: Part I
This is normally how I do things, in Paint Tool SAI, from beginning rough sketch to final inks and flats.
I start with a rough sketch, in a combination of blue and red colors. I like to keep things simple but most of the time, my sketches get a bit messy. I like messy. :P
Then, I follow up that sketch with another, this time, adding more details and I use a more refined, cleaner brush.
After that comes the line art which is done with the same tool I use to create that second sketch. The line art layer is set to Binary Color, 50% opacity and I ink over my sketch the same way as if I were to use the pen tool. Once finished, I change the layer back to Normal, 100$ opacity. Nice, clean line art!
The flats follow….
Soon, there will be a part two; a look at how I do the lighting (shadows, highlights, etc).
What the hell, Paint Tool SAI?!
So, I’m still trying to finish that Niko and the Sword of Light piece, that one that’s already been uploaded to deviantART (failed to upload it here) and I’ve noticed how pixelated a piece done in Paint Tool Sai can get when saved as a JPEG.
I’ve done some shadow work on the left piece and wanted to upload it here to share but then I noticed how damn blurry and pixelated it was afterwards. Hot damn, that’s quite a mess, isn’t it?
And then I remembered hearing about saving and uploading images done in Paint Tool Sai, about a suggestion to save and upload your finished image as a PNG file rather than a JPEG.
I took away the shadow work before uploading the PNG version of the same piece and I do like the results but fear that I’m going to have to same issue when it comes time for the rest of the detail work.
Awesome…
